Carl Lostritto teaches and studies architecture. At MIT he is a student member of the Design and Computation Group in the Department of Architecture. He is expecting to complete a Master of Science degree in Spring 2012. Currently Carl is a lecturer at the Boston Architectural College. A course he developed, Computing Drawing Space, overlaps with his research at MIT regarding the framing of computation as a design medium. Until 2010, Carl lived in Washington, DC and taught architectural design at The University of Maryland and The Catholic University of America. He has served as a guest critic at MIT, The University of Hartford, and The Corcoran College of Art + Design.

Also known as "lattice gasses," this type of algorithm simulates the behavior of gas and liquid molecules in space.

Is it possible to be flat and deep at the same time? Here the conflicting meanings become conflicting perceptions of space, an understood flatness and an understood inhabitable depth.
